Summary of the webinar:
Water is a fundamental resource that supports all aspects of life, and waterfront areas hold vital significance in both our daily lives and the tourism industry. Today, inland waterside destinations are increasingly popular, offering relaxing and enriching environments for a wide range of visitors. However, the very tourism that draws people to these natural spaces can also threaten their ecological integrity.

This webinar explores the critical role of waterfronts in tourism, examining both the experiences they offer and the patterns of visitor flow. Special attention will be given to Lake Balaton—Hungary’s iconic inland destination—offering deeper insight into its tourism dynamics. With a strong focus on sustainability, the session will highlight best practices and initiatives that aim to protect these environments, offering valuable lessons for other regions facing similar challenges.
