Veszprém is going to be European Capital of Culture 2023

It is Veszprém’s bid for European Capital of Culture that is backed by the project’s independent, international experts’ board, the decision was announced on Friday in Budapest. Veszprém mayor Gyula Porga and the team of Veszprém-Balaton 2023 wish to thank all who have helped in the preparation process over the past three years.

Earlier this year, three cities have been shortlisted to become the 2023 European Capital of Culture: the eastern Hungarian Debrecen, the country’s second-largest city, which served twice as the nation’s capital; the beautifully renovated baroque city, Győr, in northwest Hungary; and one of the oldest urban areas, the ‘City of Queens’, Veszprém.

Miranda Liu Hungary’s youngest concertmaster

Miranda Liu is a real prodigy. The young violinist started her Hungarian studies in 2013 at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in the frame of an Erasmus Scholarship. She also earned her BA and MA degree here. She became the youngest person in the history of the prestigious institution to be admitted into their Doctoral School.
