Evangelical-Lutheran Theological University is the only Evangelical-Lutheran higher education instuitution in Hungary. The university was founded in 1557 but its name changed several times during the centuries.
In 1990 it received the state recognized non-state university status. The name of the university is since 1st January 1998 Evangelical-Lutheran Theological University and it is a state-accredited university since 1998.
