Széchenyi István University (SZE), a vibrant institution of higher education, is strategically located in Győr, a thriving automotive hub in northwestern Hungary. Positioned equidistant from the capitals of Hungary, Austria, and Slovakia, Győr serves as a central node for SZE's academic and research activities. While the main campus resides in Győr, the University also operates teaching and research facilities in Budapest and two additional regional centres, which further enhance its research and educational landscape.
Since 2016, SZE has experienced a remarkable increase in its international student population, now exceeding 1,000 individuals from approximately 80 countries. The University offers an extensive range of academic programs, including 220 courses taught in Hungarian across nine faculties and four doctoral schools, alongside 53 programs delivered in English. These English-taught offerings are particularly strong in STEM fields and Business & Economics. Furthermore, five double-degree programs are available through partnerships with institutions in the United States, China, India, Italy, and Portugal.

This relationship culminated in the establishment of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering in 2015, which has become a focal point for students pursuing Vehicle Engineering, a highly sought-after discipline among international applicants.
Adjacent to the Győr campus lies the Science Park, a dynamic innovation ecosystem fostering the development of start-ups, spin-offs, and industry collaborations. Széchenyi University Alumni won the Green Talent Award
Former student of Széchenyi István University, Malika Nisal Ratnayake, from Sri Lanka, has been awarded the international „Green Talent” prize for his doctoral research on sustainability. The outstanding student, who is currently studying for his PhD in Australia, was recently presented with the award by Dr Michael Meister, Parliamentary State Secretary to the German Federal Minister of Education and Research.
