About

Széchenyi István University (SZE), a vibrant institution of higher education, is strategically located in Győr, a thriving automotive hub in northwestern Hungary. Positioned equidistant from the capitals of Hungary, Austria, and Slovakia, Győr serves as a central node for SZE's academic and research activities. While the main campus resides in Győr, the University also operates teaching and research facilities in Budapest and two additional regional centres, which further enhance its research and educational landscape.

Since 2016, SZE has experienced a remarkable increase in its international student population, now exceeding 1,000 individuals from approximately 80 countries. The University offers an extensive range of academic programs, including 220 courses taught in Hungarian across nine faculties and four doctoral schools, alongside 53 programs delivered in English. These English-taught offerings are particularly strong in STEM fields and Business & Economics. Furthermore, five double-degree programs are available through partnerships with institutions in the United States, China, India, Italy, and Portugal.

A significant milestone in SZE’s history is its enduring collaboration with Audi Hungaria Zrt., a partnership initiated in 1993. This relationship culminated in the establishment of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering in 2015, which has become a focal point for students pursuing Vehicle Engineering, a highly sought-after discipline among international applicants.

Adjacent to the Győr campus lies the Science Park, a dynamic innovation ecosystem fostering the development of start-ups, spin-offs, and industry collaborations. This hub not only nurtures entrepreneurial ventures but also plays a pivotal role in talent cultivation and provides a creative environment for industrial innovation. Complementing these efforts is the Med Tech Campus in central Győr, a multi-phase initiative dedicated to advancing medical education and research. With a focus on areas such as digital dentistry and minimally invasive surgical techniques, the campus benefits from partnerships with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and healthcare institutions.
