The Embassy of Hungary in Nairobi is one of our oldest embassies in Africa. The Embassy covers nine countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Seychelles, Comoros, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Embassy is working on injecting new dynamism into Hungarian-East-African relations. Our main agenda is to improve food security to counter climate change, create work opportunities through private sector investment, improving access to health care and clean water, and adding value to agriculture in various countries of the region.
Last, but not least, we continue to enhance human capacities via Europe’s most generous bursary scheme, the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme! Currently Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Seychelles fall under the scope of the scholarship programme, Kenya being the biggest beneficiary with a quota of 200 students a year. Our goal is to keep close contact with the students who studied in Hungary and graduated from a Hungarian university.
