In the last couple of months, there were two Alumni Meetings: one in Warsaw, Poland and another one in Quito, Ecuador.
The Polish Alumni Meeting was on 14th November in Warsaw. The Meeting was organized on the Polish-Hungarian Higher Education Day and it provided an opportunity for dialogue between former students and current Hungarian students, Polish undergraduate students, and visiting professors. More than 120 participants attended the event: current and former students, head of the three Hungarian departments in Poland and many teachers, as well as representatives of the Wacław Felczak Foundation and the Tempus Public Foundation.
The speeches were held by dr Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovács Ambassador of Hungary in Poland, Áron Péter Kertész cultural attaché of Balassi Institute in Warsaw, Áron Zöldy from the Wacław Felczak Foundation and Gábor Kamocsa from the Tempus Public Foundation.
After the official section of the meeting, the participants had chance to talk to each other over a meal and to test their knowledge on Hungary with a quiz.
Ecuadorian students have been studying in Hungary since the 1970s and currently approximately 75 students receive Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship every year. The Embassy of Hungary in Quito hosted the first alumni meeting in October 2017, which was continued and expanded on 12nd December 2019 in frames of a supported project of the Department of Science Diplomacy.
The main purpose of the event and cooperation was to involve Ecuadorian alumni in the development of Hungarian-Ecuadorian economic, cultural and educational cooperation and create a network for all of them.
Around 30 alumni members and a delegate of the Ecuadorian Higher Education State Secretary (SENESCYT) – the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship partner in Ecuador – attended to the meeting.
