The Alumni Network Hungary celebrated the achievements of its volunteers and alumni chapters in 2023 with a series of publications highlighting their contributions to the community. The network recognized the great effort of volunteers who organized events, provided mentorship, and promoted Hungarian culture, and praised the efforts of alumni chapters that created opportunities for networking, professional development, and cultural exchange.
In 2023, the Alumni Network Hungary volunteers embarked on a transformative journey, expanding their global impact with initiatives that resonated across the countries. Their dedication led to the creation and nurturing of various alumni chapters, fostering vibrant communities that transcended geographical boundaries. Through strategic collaboration and innovative programming, they facilitated meaningful connections and shared experiences, cultivating a sense of unity among alumni worldwide. This dynamic team also prioritized mentorship programs, providing invaluable support to recent graduates and enhancing the professional development of members. As a result, the Alumni Network Hungary's 2023 endeavours not only strengthened its existing alumni network but also ignited a widespread interest among alumni worldwide in the exciting possibilities for collaboration and community-building.
Last year we introduced some local alumni communities set by our volunteers where you can join and develop with other alumni members such as the Nigerian-Hungary Alumni Association and the Azerbaijan-Hungarian Alumni Union (AHAU) or the Turkish Alumni - Hungary. In this year you can read more about the Indo-Hungarian Alumni Association, and the Chinese or Mongol chapter.
„In 2023, the Azerbaijani Alumni Chapter experienced its most successful year to date, as we, the alumni, undertook numerous projects. This achievement serves as motivation for us to strive for even greater accomplishments in 2024. Over the past year, we attracted more than 600 registered members, and our events in both Azerbaijan and Hungary saw participation from over 1000 alumni. Looking ahead to 2024, we aim to further increase the number of registered members and host impactful events in Azerbaijan and Hungary, involving alumni and members of the communities. Our primary objective is to expand as an alumni organization and play a vital role in the lives of alumni.” Hikmat Hasanov
Besides the local chapters, there are some professional alumni communities with several alumni meetings, such as the Water Resource Professionals, who take responsibility by using their knowledge in the field of water resources to come up with new innovative ideas and recommendations or the Alumni Connect event organized by the GiLE Foundation.
“Throughout 2024, I hope to directly connect Stipendium Hungaricum students with those alumni network members who are blazing a trail, wherever they are in the world. With the right programs and platforms, I imagine alumni serving as sources of knowledge and inspiration, and perhaps even help soon-to-be-graduates with finding potential job opportunities connected to their studies. Alumni networks can be powerful, and I hope to support Tempus with tapping into the “hidden gems” in the network, through planned initiatives and monthly meetups in Budapest.” Craig Johnson
Thirdly you can find our volunteers in various events, education fairs and help us with promoting scholarship opportunities in Hungary. On 20 June we celebrated the graduation of the Stipendium Hungaricum and the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship Programme holders including our alumni volunteers who greeted new graduates and introduced the benefits of the Alumni Network Hungary.
In 2023 the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme celebrated its 10th anniversary with a series of events. As part of the celebration, the Welcome event of the new scholarship holders, followed by the International Conference of the Stipendium Hungaricum Partners took place between 20 and 22 November, where more of our alumni members participated in workshops and round table discussions
“It was a great privilege for me to participate in the SH conference and workshop. I want to say thank you to Stipendium Hungaricum and all its partners for giving Nigerians the opportunity to study in Hungary. This has given us access to quality education and lots of experience with the people and their culture. “ Lucky Peter Kenda
