We have a great and enthusiastic international alumni volunteer team of 20 people from 15 countries. Most of them decided to create an alumni chapter in their home country or make international professional alumni groups and some of them did great social media work. In the next chapter of our volunteer series, you can read Patrick Theuri’s story from Kenya! He studied in Hungary between 2018-2021 at Eötvös Loránd University, ELTE.

Alumni Network Hungary has grown rapidly in recent years and now it is not only available to international students and alumni, but also to Hungarian universities, foreign representations, and companies. With the expansion of the network, you can build more connections and find various professional opportunities. 

In a successful series of meetings, Dr. László Bacsárdi, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of BME, laid the groundwork for enhanced collaboration between Hungary and Brazil in the field of space research. The talks, initiated by the Consulate General of São Paulo, covered a diverse range of topics, including space communications, Earth observation, and human spaceflight.

The Alumni Network Hungary celebrated the achievements of its volunteers and alumni chapters in 2023 with a series of publications highlighting their contributions to the community. The network recognized the great effort of volunteers who organized events, provided mentorship, and promoted Hungarian culture, and praised the efforts of alumni chapters that created opportunities for networking, professional development, and cultural exchange. 

The concept of the Book of Your Life aiming to support the integration of international students arriving at ELTE has been selected as one of the best by the jury of the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) The Amsterdam-based foundation and its partners are supporting the project of the ELTE University Library and Archives.

We are heading to the end of 2023, the year we’ve celebrated anniversaries, reached 10,000 members, launched new alumni chapters and connected the alumni members from all over the world. This challenging, enormous work has been done by our volunteers, whom we are proud of, and we put them first this year. We appreciate their effort and let’s read their wishes and hopes for 2024!

This year the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme celebrates its 10th anniversary with a series of events. As part of the celebration, the Welcome event of the new scholarship holders, followed by the International Conference of the Stipendium Hungaricum Partners took place between 20 and 22 November, where more of our alumni members participated in workshops and round table discussions.
